Wow. That's a real kick in the crotch. Both to us and FSU fans. We totally could have had this kid, but mommy decided to be a baby about it.
Poor FSU fans. Yea, they get an awesome LB, but he would rather be at another school.
It's a shitty situation for everyone but Mrs. Thomas -- that spoiled brat.
Part of good parenting, is allowing your children to become adults. The only that way happens, is by trusting them to make decisions to fuel their growth - especially as it relates to THEIR future, not the parent's.
She'll never admit it, but she may come to regret this to a certain degree - maybe not. Won't ruin anyone's life, but supporting your children's dreams/desires/goals are more than just necessary.
Thomas sure would have looked good in C&G.
I don't get it. Parents putting their own feelings ahead of what's truly best for their kids? And if a kid is 18, aren't the legally an adult? If so, why would the parents or parent have to sign the LOI anyway?
Resentment will build within the kid.
Before or after the Trojans will the MNC next season?
Why is it a kick in the crotch to FSU fans? Did you read the comments? They're happy as can be . Laughing and telling Kiffin to suck it ect.
I find it beyond stupid that an 18 year old can vote, drive, open a bank account, play the lottery, even buy cigarettes in some states...yet he can't decide where he wants to go to college on his own and needs his parents approval?
Wow, that was an incredibly interesting read.
From a USC perspective, just kind of sucks, but again shows that really there wasn't much the staff could do at that point. They had him sealed and delivered, just couldn't get him signed.
Also it really sucks for Kirkland, saying he would have gone to FSU if he had known, timing is everything.
MT seems like a good guy, and I hope he succeeds there.
He's 17...that's the point.
Well that sucks! He had already told Lane he was signing his LOI, then Mom interfered. He should have taken the same advice he gave his friend - go with his heart (not with what Mom wanted). Maybe we would have seen another Mom running away with a LOI and refusing to sign it

Still... Really sad he couldn't do what he wanted to do.
Was completely obvious when he announced FSU that it wasn't his decision. His heart was noticeably not in it. Too bad would have loved to see him in cardinal & gold!
Not just that; a free education.
Second time in a few years that's happened with a Florida kid, the first being Marcus Roberson. Certainly could have used him at CB.
Sounds like this guy could be transfer candidate #1 to us come 2015 when we're full on scholarships again.
Like I said before...I mother does not truly love her son (or daughter) if they stand in the way of their college choice or any other major decision they make in life that isn't detrimental to their health and well being. We can voice our opinion, hope and pray they stay close to us..but you let them go with good grace.
Pitiful woman, shitty mother...sorry, but that's the way I feel.

Cry Havoc; and let slip the dogs of war!
is this really true? do JUCO kids need their mommy to sign an LOI? maybe it's just for kids who haven't turned 18 yet. that rule needs to change
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
I bet his mother will be the first in line with her hand out when her son gets drafted to the NFL...she'll want her big house...he can go wherever he has to then, as long as she can cash out.
This is the last choice these players will ever make in their careers..they're auctioned off like cattle to an NFL team that picks THEM, they have zero choice.
