I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The biggest issue with this team is lack of leadership.
The problem is not heart or talent, that is there. The lack of team leadership, from a players standpoint, coaching is fine IMO (well maybe a good time for Monte to step aside). I'm not saying there's bad seniors, because that's the furthest from the truth, we have a great bunch of guys, especially MB. However, we'll need a few players next season that make sure the team never shows up uninspired to any game. You guys know I like the hard working blue collar type of player like Rhett Ellison who think team first and I last.
The biggest issue IMO, is starting off games like last week 24-0, they fought back so the heart is there. Too many I players and not enough team players. They lost to teams who are playing as a team as their first priority.
The good news IMO, is that I don't see this happening next year. Sometimes you need to take a few steps back to move forward. We have all the pieces in place. Players will now realize that putting on a Trojans uniform alone is not going to get it done, I'm not sure who the leaders on the practice field and weight room will be, but I know some will rise when face with adversity. It could be that players really bought the hype outside of the program. Although this season has been a bit disappointing, I really feel it's what the long term success of the program needed, a little reality check.
I'm not expecting a title next year or even worried about wins and losses, I just want the team to take the field and play for each other. I'm also not to worried about the outcome vs ND, but i would like to see the team show with passion and pride and leave it out on the field.
Natty..just stop. Please.
"Here are provided seats of meditative joy, where shall rise again the destined reign of Troy." Virgil
Let's just talk about how great things are!
I'm telling you, Nattys, you can't speak objective insights of it's at all pejorative regarding USC players, even though, if you watch the film, the criticisms are warranted.
I agree with you. Fact is SC with all it's talent does not have such a dismal year if there are looming problems that have consistently manifested themselves this season. By you (and I have too) pointing out the issues, we are considered pariahs for doing so.
But records speak like salvos and we can't ignore the sounds of a7-4 record with the personnel we have.
So how were things in the locker room on Saturday? I'm assuming you were there based on your intimate knowledge of team dynamics.
I wouldn't say uninspired, more like mistake prone. Like Cowherd said this morning, "SC has a Master's degree in beating themselves."
What sanctions? Our 75 are better than your 85.
I've often times found the cliché about a lack of leadership to be a lazy way of saying "something's broken...so it must be this"
What would the presence of leadership specifically looked like in situations you claim we lacked leadership from the players?
In other words, give us some examples to support your contention of how the lack of leadership from players was so obvious?
Just where did you see Natty's share 'objective insights?' I saw gross generalities being put forth, but nothing that could be considered an insight gleaned from a thorough analysis of the situation.
How many threads are going to be started on this? Or talked about till it's beat to a pulp?
Haden and the coaches are going to have to go to a come to jesus meeting and figure this stuff out. Most of you just start ridiculous threads that do nothing but bitch...others, like Rich and Wade (of only a few) actually give valuable insight.
there's like 47 frosh/soph guys
and i don't remember the amount of seniors, but the amount of seniors who play is even smaller
mistake prone, yea...but it's really lack of leadership due to a very small amount of seniors for one thing
and i haven't really seen a vocal senior besides mcneal
