Don't get me wrong I love Sanchez
when it comes to the Jets -
you've got to go with the lukewarm hand.
As bad as Sanchez is playing, the biggest problem in NY is not the QB, it is the o-line....it is brutal
Get someone else in there so people can see quarterback isn't the problem.
Winning the academic award in the SEC is sort of like winning the special olympics. Even if you win, you are still a retard.
I hope Mark saves his $
Yes. Mark has no future with that team.
At least if they go with McElroy they'll be forced to lean on the run game more (which is what they should have been doing from day one). And Greg hasn't been beaten into a scared mess the way Sanchez was. Let him manage the game.
I love Mark and hope he ends up somewhere with a better situation.
PREP NOT HYPE
Fight On and You'll Never Walk Alone
I blame Rex Ryan for this mess.
When a coach wants to play smash mouth running offense and a strong defense and only dink-and-dunk-make-no-mistakes pass offense for 56 minutes and then turn the passing game loose to win the game in the final 4 minutes, you will have a QB with no self-confidence.
Sanchez, in this case, is afraid to make a mistake, because he is constantly being told to not eff it up, to make the safe pass, to play "not to lose".
In my opinion, that messes up a QB's head.
Look at the Saints in 2009. They had a power running game. Their defense was high-flying and got lots of turnovers. Sean Payton did not put any handcuffs on Drew Brees. Actually, the opposite. He let Brees air it out because Payton is a good coach and empowers his players.
Rex Ryan is more afraid of losing than trying to go out and win. And because of this, it doesn't matter who his QB is. I hope Rex gets fired and Sanchez can be under another coach; one that will let him play with confidence.
anyone who thinks the jets are fine under rex ryan are blind
he's a major reason sanchez hasn't gotten any better
Mark has severely regressed. He doesn't seem to have any confidence, in spite of what he says publicly. He gets happy feet and makes terrible decisions. The fan base has pretty much turned on him, which will make it doubly hard for him to rebound.
He might be better off getting a fresh start somewhere, but his contract may keep him in NY at least one more year because of the cap hit. Also, he may have a tough time finding a suitor right now considering how he's played.
I think at this point he needs to keep his head down, keep working hard and stay out of the press in terms of his personal life. Justified or not, there's a perception that he's a bit of a party boy who is acting like Broadway Joe without getting the results people expect of a franchise QB.
I really hope it works out for Mark. I think he has the physical talent to succeed. I can't help thinking he needs to get to--and maintain--a better place mentally/emotionally if he hopes to make it long term.

Help A Better LA bring peace to the South LA community. Are you in?
Man, the Jets are a train wreck. Sanchez 13/28, 4 INT. Botched snap to end the game.
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
Yes, Sanchez is done. He will have to be a backup on another team for a few years, hopefully he gets the opportunity to start down the road
You guys need to take off your cardinal and gold glasses. Sanchez is not and should not be a starting QB in the NFL.He doesn't have any pocket presence and makes a lot of bad decisions. With time he isn't an accurate thrower and he had the same problem here against AZ on the road,ASU at home and Stanford on the road. Please don't give that "he took the jets to back to back AFC championship games", the defense and running game did most of the work.
I am one of the biggest Jet fan on this board and would love to see him succeed, but it isn't going to happen.
I see Sanchez returning to the club next year ,because he has a one year guarantee contract of 8 million.Good Luck kid facing that NY crowd next week.
everybody should replace sanchez
He should have listen to uncle Pete and stayed in school.
i'm not sure how to describe what's wrong with MY Jets, but you are pretty damn close in this post. i've been a Jets fan since about '62 cause their colors were the same as my first Pop Warner Football team's, and the past 2 years feel like the Coslet through Kotite era= depressing.
i thought McElroy was an awful QB in college so i don't think he would be any better in the pros.
No proof that would have helped at all, ML stayed in school, how did that work out for him?
Add a horrible receiving corp to the other mentioned problems with the Jets. Seriously, I've only heard of one of their receivers, and that's Braylon Edwards who they just signed.
It sure as heck wouldn't have hurt him
One less year of making starting QB money.
This. I don't get why people keep saying he should have stayed another year. Wouldn't you expect NFL coaches to be able to prepare him better for the NFL? And it's not like people were saying he was bad after his rookie season. He was a top-5 pick, probably not going to improve much upon that.
Horrible comparison. You wanna know why Payton can take the "handcuffs" off of Brees can let him air out? Because he can trust his QB to not make the dumbass throws that we saw last night. Throwing into double and triple coverage? Just horrible to do it over and over and over again. I know some homers will blame everyone else, but Sanchez is a huge part of the problem. He is not a good NFL QB, and really never has been.
You would think so, the NFL coaches get to spend so much more time in meetings and on the practice field than the limited time they have in college.
Who is the QB coach for the Jets? Mark has had bad offensive coordinators (Schottenheimer and Sporano) since he has been there. He would thrive with a Bellichek system. Jets line sucks, their receivers suck and the coaching sucks on the offensive side of the ball. Mike Tannenbaum needs to be fired as he can't evaluated talent. Contrast Mark with Russell Wilson, the guy has intangibles and wants to win. And he does.
I have no idea.
Alex Smith to the jets in 2013, Mark needs a fresh start. Bills or cards all need QBs
