My good sources tell me Pitt's Jamie Dixon just got an official offer from USC: $2.5 million per year for 10 years
I like it
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
Read that as well...don't really know that much about him, not a big CBB fan...
*Ah..just read up on the guy..think this rumor has any way of being true?

Up it to $3MM. I don't care anymore. Just win.
Cry Havoc; and let slip the dogs of war!
This is the type of effort I want to see. Don't settle or get someone "on sale"... Send a statement to everyone that we plan on turning this thing around and are serious about supporting this program

Pretty impressive. Has a contract with Pitt through 2018 though.
the 10 years is the impressive numbers to me.
To show that kind of commitment is really big.
Anything and more for you my lady...
I love you.
I'd offer Shaka or brad 40 mil for 10 years or even 50.
Ucla just lost to the ducks in the p12 championship. The p12 is there for the taking USC can reign supreme with a big time coach.
offer bill self 20 mil a year and watch us win a title in three years
(but actually, don't, because I'm a Kansas basketball fan)
Isn't he the guy who's sister died tragically recently?
Awesome! Hopefully we land him!
Really going to depend on Howland's status. Dixon didn't want to go up against his mentor. Big loyalty factor there.
With speculation that Howland will leave UCLA (voluntarily or involuntarily) that could open the door for Dixon.
She died back in 2006, she was head coach at Army at he time.
Freedom through Vigilance
I spoke with an immediate Dixon family member three weeks ago and they said it would not happen. That being said, there was no offer at the time. If it's true that we're no longer talking hypotheticals, minds think diffferently.
Mama LIKE this offer.

Not talking numbers that high, but does anyone know if Smart is a realistic consideration or has Haden just zeroed in on Dixon?
Doubt Smart has any interest in USC. He's interested in landing a UNC, Georgetown, Duke, etc., kind of a gig.
Love the commitment...would've preferred Floyd over Dixon...but, can't complain about the effort.
The problem is (if it's true) if Dixon turns it down...the job will sour quickly and nobody will want what nobody wants. I trust Haden has vetted the situation before offering.
Get the best.
Look at the difference between Shaka's teams and Dixon's.
Dixon's teams won the Big East or came in 2nd 5 times, but the best he got out of that was an Elite 8 appearance. No Final Fours and a bunch of early round exits. His teams consistently underachieve in the tourney.
Smart otoh went to the Final Four in his second year and fielded a competitive team last year despite losing some major pieces from the 2011 squad.
One guy gets the most out of his players and the other doesn't.
Smart makes $1.2m/yr right now. Offer him $40m over 10 years.
Can't imagine he'd turn that down, along with the chance to build SC into a powerhouse program.
(I didn't bring up Stevens b/c I think he's waiting for the Duke job, but he'd be the next on my list after Shaka.)
You're kicking in the difference, phear?
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
We really need to hire a big time coach if the administration is serious about being "committed" to the sport. Yes, that's a lot of money but a winning program for 10 years would more than make up for that.
I know it's basketball at a football school, but how much was Pete worth to the football team? I don't know, but it was a hell of a lot more than his 4+ million salary.
There's some speculation that Howland and Dixon have talked and Howland might go back to Pitt. That's what Bruins are chattering about.
