Should we say the same about Arizona because Monte's vaunted D gave up over 600 yards against them.
Oh - that's right, UCLA held them to 250 yards.
I dont have any opinion on Boise States' guy, but John Chavis (LSU) and Kirby Smart (Bama) are ridiculous names to bring up.
Neither one would make a lateral move to be a DC at USC when both of them, and certainly Smart will be the hottest names for Head Coaching jobs in the SEC this year
Smart already turned down the chance to be DC and HC in waiting at Georgia which is his Alma Mater and I believe Chavis would jump at the chance to go back to Tennessee, even though his last stint there ended rather badly.
So people bringing up these guys or saying we should hire Nick Saban are really not offering much in the way of realistic input
I would also like to see what Monte and Ogre could have done with the players Smart and Chavis were playing with last night
It's not Monte it's the players
John Chavis? Step right up please!
Join the fight for YOUR liberty!
Last week you WLP's weren't talking about Monte's defense
You all had your clits in a snit because Lane wasnt qualified to call the plays for Natty's Pop Warner team
Make up your fucking minds for Chrissakes
Face it, you always have to have someone to demonize when things dont go the way YOU think they should go
1300 yards in 2 games. Whose fault is it? If it isn't the Monte's, it's the players. Which players then do you think are vastly underperforming??
20 - 30 missed tackles?
Many at the LOS or in the backfield
How many tiimes did Barner get outside because Starling or someone else took an inside angle on run support
By the time a kid is a senior, that shouldnt be happening
Is it coaching?
Is the kid uncoachable?
It may be a little of both, but I think it is mostly instinct, which boils down to evaluation at the recruitment level
Which opens up a whole new can if worms
But I dont remember John Lynch having that problem when Monte was his coach
There are certainly points to be made regarding scheme as there were some serious zone failures in this game and against Zona, but Oregon scored 60 because DBs and LBs were consistently and repeatedly dominated in one-on-one matchups throughout the game. Monte is the boss but I can't imagine his scheme has much to do with our CBs' complete and total inability to shed blocks. I also don't think scheme had anything to do with Torin Harris being humiliated again, especially because he's frequently physically in a position to make a play.
There's plenty of blame to go around: Monte AND the position coaches AND the players, but most importantly the other goddamn team that a lot of people on this board seem to have zero respect for despite the fact that they're the #1 scoring offense in college football. It's almost unbelievable that holding them to 34 points in the first half was the 2nd best anyone has done against them this year... but it's true.
How do you explain this post that 'Bill Maher' posted in a different thread?-
"Just saw on ESPN that Barner had 273 yards before contact in this game. Ouch."
I want to thank you for comparing USC to the rest of Float U's cupcake schedule. I feel a whole lot better now.
I am not the one all in a Tizzy every fucking week so I am not going to get into calling names
These are good kids that are doing their best and I love each and every one of them
I just happen to believe the players' we will continue to bring in best will be a huge improvement over the ones who will be leaving and I think Monte and Ed deserve the chance to coach them
Sorry, but I am a big picture guy who doesnt get all emotional and start doing a Rumlestiltskin Imoression every fucking week
Man how the mighty have fallen.
It's both and I've said as much many times. I'm not some Lane basher for no reason. My sig speaks to the fact that I totally believed in Lane but there comes a point when your eyes aren't lying to you. This defense has been trash for 3+ years my friend. Why aren't the players being developed? Why can't they make tackles? Why are we playing zone against a running team? Why are the LB's chasing WR's 20 yards downfield?
I think its a little bit of both maybe the scheme is so passive because monte doesn't have faith in the players to play more aggressively. The defensive line played horrible how does a guy have 273 yards before contact you kidding me. But have faith its all in recruiting if we can swing a adams hold on the eddie and kenny things will turn around fast. Also we have a lb chasing a wide-out down the field because we don't even have a second db that can cover so our options are limited :) Shit Tmac7 and starlings covering skills are questionable.

I think I did
He was getting outside all night because our Ends were crashing down, and our second snd third level defenders either couldnt shed blocks by munchkin wideouts or if by some miracle they were running free, they looked like cargo ships trying to turn around and catch a Go Fast boat that blew by them because they were three miles off course
We didn't need to "stop them." Holding them to a little less than 62 points and 730 yards would have been sufficient. Oregon's starters played the entire game against Fresno State, and they only scored 42 points at home. They played nearly the entire game against Arizona and only scored 35 offensively at home. We could have given up more than that and still won

Our defense is slow. Barner beat TJ and Starling to the edge repeatedly. Our ends routinely read the zone read play wrong. It was a complete cluster fack.
Just stop dude, Monte has failed in every possible way. Can you imagine what this defense would look like if it had recruited lesser talent? Just stop.
Realistically i think Coach O gets a shot at the D first before we start looking at outside options. Honestly though, would that be so bad? I think O is a great coach.
LMAO at you calling me a whiner. Until this season, I have been a huge Kiffin supporter. Hell - back in the day, I supported Larry Smith when everyone else wanted to call for his head. In fact, I think some of this board called me a sunshine pumper.
But I'm sure you don't want to get into a tizzy and name names. If you did, you wouldn't be able to say "___(fill in the blank) is a great kid because I sat next to his mom at one of the practices 3 years ago."
Name Drop On!
So after all this, it IS the players
Again, I stated that it's both but you blame it all on just the players. The coaches job is to get the right players, put them in a position to be successful and incorporate a scheme that will bear positive results. Are these things happening to your eyes? If the answer is no, who is responsible?
