Love this tweet from Ross Tucker:
No such thing as giving up too much for truly elite QB. If he's not, everyone's getting fired anyway so who cares?
Dumbest trade ever.....Bravo to the Ram's brass. They just stole 3 extra first round pick's.I wish the Colt's were that smart.
Wow, three 1sts and a 2nd?
The Rams hit the jackpot
This alot of draft picks. Washington gave up too much to move up four picks. I think Oakland set the price with Carson Palmer with a first round piack and second round pick. I think the better option would be to wait next year for a quarterback. A quarterback cannot play well if he does not have good players around him.

What did you think of the Eli- Phillip Rivers trade at the time ?
People were criticizing that deal, but the Giants look like geniuses now.
Elite QBs are rare, and RG3's combo of athleticism and passing ability will be huge in the NFL.
I think he is going to be an elite difference-maker, and if he pans out, will be worth the price.
Draft picks are only valuable if you draft well.
People overvalue 1st rounders. Plenty of Pro Bowlers come from deeper in the draft.
And once you have an elite QB, you don't give him up. No one would trade Brady or Brees for 3 1sts and a 2nd.
You can't even begin to compare this trade to the Eli - Rivers trade. You have to be joking. The Giant's gave up one first round pick and two fifth round picks. That's not even in the same league as THREE first round picks and a second round pick.On top of that,I don't think RG3 is as good as Manning or Rivers. This was one of thee dumbest trades in history.

some of the redskins fans are mad at Barkley right now since they believe that if Barkley would have declared for this year, they wouldn't have had to trade for RG3 since he would have been the third qb selected. found that funny how Barkley can make a difference by returning.
We shall see in a few years.
We'll see how good RG3 is.
Would you make a deal like this for Cam Newton ? I bet a lot of NFL teams would.
The Skins have been terrible for years, and QB is obviously the one position that can most quickly turn a franchise around. It's also the one position that has a disproportionate impact to the rest of the team.
If RG3 turns out to be a huge star, then they made the right move, because he was headed to Cleveland for the same price if the Skins hadn't gotten him.
And this isn't the first time the Skins have dumped their draft choices. They went to their first Super Bowl under George Allen with the "Over the HIll Gang". Allen was famous for trading draft picks for vets, and it paid off pretty well for him, as he ended a 30 year playoff drought in DC by consistently getting his teams to the playoffs.
As I said, we'll see in a few years whether this was a good deal or not.
Wait, so you're saying Barkley would have been taken over Griffin?
^that's what a majority of the nfl scouts had predicted if i'm not mistaken. in my opinion, yes, he would have been drafted ahead of RG3 (no bias).
I really don't know, I just asked on the O/T and no one answered. It would have been interesting to see if he would have been the #2 overall, but I'm content with him moving up to #1 next year.
As a Cowboy fan, I'm just thrilled that I no longer have to dread the possibility of Barkley in a Redskins uniform for the next decade
Good trash by Wash.
Swapping 1st round picks this year, and giving up 2 1st round picks plus a 2nd?
It's steep but they finally got their QB!!
They have spent year after year after year after year with problems at QB.
Hanging around not making the playoffs for YEARS!
Now they have their QB for the next decade!
That can change the franchise around!
Get a franchise QB and your in the playoffs almost every year!!
They basically just drafted Mike Vick with Mannings head on his shoulders. That's scary!
Wash got there guy for the next decade!!
and all they did was swap 1sts and give up 2 1sts and 1 2nd.
Not bad. Both teams made out!
I still think STL should have traded Bradford for 1 1st and built around RG3!!
I think the Rams got the best of the trade too.
As to Rivers, he is a good QB.
Let's not place all of the Chargers' lack of success on him.
The serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.
The world remembers Ryan Leaf as a No. 2 pick.
Let's hope RG3 isn't RL2.
I was never implying that Rivers wasn't one of the better QB's in the league.I was just pointing out how the Giants gave up far less than the Redskins just did.
Redskins got taken to the cleaners.
Let's set the record straight: The Giants gave up Philip Rivers (4th overall in 2004), their 3rd round pick in 2004 (Nate Kaeding), their 1st round pick in 2005 (Shawn Merriman), their 5th round pick in 2005 which was traded away by San Diego.
Ok it still isn't nearly as much as what the Skin's just gave up.
All eggs in the basket I thought for sure RGIII would end up at Cleveland or something but they went all in and will be interesting if he develops into an NFL qb like Vick who is a huge dual threat.
I guess the biggest difference is when Eli came out and said he wasn't playing in San Diego that kind of hurt their leverage.
This whole thread is full of win :-)
If you can get a unique talent like RG3, and you have had horrible QBs for 20 years, you go for it!!!
Complete turnaround by Skins with RG3 at the helm. All the doubters look silly but nothing is a lock in the NFL personnel business.
No doubt nothing is a lock but if you have the chance to get a unique talent like RG3 (with who he is between the ears also) in a QB driven league. For a franchise who has been looking for a QB for 20 years, how could someone think this was a bad gamble and the Redskins should have stayed on their losing course?
I actually thought the Rams took a huge step forward this year as well. So those picks will help them as well.
No doubt they improved. But it seems like they peaked. With average Sam Bradford at the helm they seem to be a nice team that will hover around 7 wins every year, maybe sneak in as a wild card 1 year as a 9 win team with an improving D.
Curious what they will be like without their most consistent player Steven Jackson next year.
As i said 9 months ago in this thread, I still thought they should have traded Sam Bradford for picks and took RG3. Keep their own picks and add some more with the Bradford trade, they would have a pretty big time future! Steven Jackson would probably want to come back as well!
Im sure Cleveland is kicking themselves as well! They wouldnt have had to give up as much as Wash since they were 1 spot behind, but they would still have to give up alot of picks.
So instead Clev takes a nice RB prospect who averaged 3.6 YPA, good for 40th best in the NFL. (RG3 #1 with 6.8 YPA) and a 45 year old rookie QB.
They could have traded both those picks for RG3.
