And that would be consistent with benching. Lowering the weight quickly, then "bouncing" it during the transition phase. That is typically where an injury would occur.
Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
Just curious how do you know this? Is one of your children on the team? Are you just going off reports? I am under the impression that for the most part (i.e., aside from a random practice here and there) practices are closed except for the media and family.
I am not trying to be a smart ass (if it sounds like that), I just have rarely seen anything written about Burks and Wilson and even Breslin for that matter.....
I would be surprised if he would have redshirted. That would be basically two years on the shelf (he was out last year with the torn ACL). But who knows, given the sanctions, the long term roster is certainly a concern.....
Going off of reports. Did you read Horton's accessment? Burks, Wilson and Breslin aren't even mention. There's a reason for that.
I think the various sites are only partially quoting Horton. On TOS they have quotes from Horton on Breslin, Williams and Townsend (but not Greene). Here he is quoted on Greene and Townsend (but not Williams and Breslin). Not surprised that he hasn't mentioned Wilson because as I understand it he hasn't practiced yet (was still recovering in the spring from his injury) and Burks hasn't practiced much either as he is recovering from his injury.
True I did see his comments on Breslin. Hopefully someone steps up.
I think there is reason for optimism in Horton's statements. It's true that he seems to be indicating that all of them have areas of their game that need to be improved but I think if you don't find a guy that steps into the full time starter role you at least have guys with complimentary skill sets. Breslin and Greene sound promising on passing downs, rushing the passer. Townsend sounds like he is a guy that can step in and play the run. Williams is a guy that sounds like if he can put it all together could grow into that full-time starter or at least, has the size to push Townsend to play on running downs. And although Burks wasn't mentioned by Horton I know that he looked pretty good rushing the passer last year in camp when he was healthy.
Undoubtedly we'll see some growing pains there like we did last year at OG but I feel fairly confident that the coaches will sort it out and find a DE version of Martin.

Here's finally speaking about it. http://reignoftroy.com/2012/07/27/usc-football-exclusive-devon-kennard-speaks-about-season-threatening-injury/
“If I can’t come back this season then I will do whatever is best for me and my family when the time comes to make a decision. But if I feel like I can come back and play at a high level, I’m going to.”
Injured while benching, as I said.
Yeah, I know he went through the spring, but we haven't seen him game time yet. Just because people weren't raving about him doesn't mean he won't be a contributer during the season. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but what else can you be when you've got a solid juco but not much sample size at the d-1 level.
Sort of the opposite when it came to Ausberry. Every year it seemed like he was an all-world WR during the spring, but unfortunatley it never really carried over to the field. I wouldn't put too much stock into spring ball.
