The Seattle Seahawks traded Matt Flynn to the Oakland Raiders for draft picks. The Seattle Seahawks need a back up quaterback and are looking at Tyler Thigpen and Matt Leinart. The Oakland Raiders are looking to trade Carson Palmer to the Arizona Cardinals. The Cleveland Browns traded Colt McCoy to the San Francisco 49ers for draft picks. Also, Kevin Kolb signed with the Buffalo Bills.
So with all thses quarterbacks changing teams, what impact will it have with Matt Barkley? The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting Geno Smith.
Carson deal not exactly done:
@JasonLaCanfora: Carson Palmer trade not finalized. Things "hit a snag" according to a source. Unsure if it can be overcome at this point ...
@JasonLaCanfora: AZ and OAK have been deep in talks with Palmer working on restructured salary with the Cards, pushing towards a deal. stay tuned
As far as impact I think it has a positive impact if either cards or bills select MB7. Neither Carson nor Kolb are long term solutions and Barkley might be available at the top of the 2nd round. Bark could have a redshirt year or two and hit the ground running in year 3.
Coach Pete Carroll selected Brady Quinn today instead of Matt Leinart to back up Russell Wilson.
Like Section13forSC mentioned in a previous thread, Matt Leinart will probably never play QB in the league again.
If true very sad. Leinart looked good at Houston until he got injured and just needed time with one O-coordinator and an opportunity IMHO.
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
A couple of things to consider before we call this "sad."
1) Matt spurned Pete once when he took the back up position in Houston rather than fight for the opportunity to be the starter in Seattle.
2) Matt does not fit the system that Pete is running now.
Always had a strange career. I don't see any reason he shouldn't succeed except for some bad timing/luck and maybe a lack of drive, but I'm not even sure if that's true. He has the accuracy to make it.
Lack of drive in the NFL means everything. Especially to Coach Carroll.
i always thought that ML was way too "laid back" for the NFL, but not a bad thing/way. but most QBs in the pros seem a lil on the "edgy" side, like 2 seconds away from bein pissed off. ML seems to me like a throwback to the Namath(my all time football hero) style of laid back, BUT i could be wrong.
So, how much credibility is there to Matt lacking the drive to make it in the NFL?
From someone who really knows Matt and what his motives are for trying to make an NFL team.
3) Matt also has a noodle for an arm. You get away with that in college but not so much in the no fun league.
