I am putting this on both boards because I wanted as many people to see it as possible.
Every Sunday afternoon. 3 to 7 in Seal Beach, two of the greatest Reggae Musicians ever, Fully Fullwood and Tony Chin are playing at Don The Beachcombers in Seal Beach as members of the Fully Fullwood Band
They were founding members of The Soul Syndicate Band, one of legendary studio bands from the earliest days of Reggae Music
They played on some of the earliest Wailers records and had many of the great Jamaican singers like Dennis Brown, Freddie McGregor and many others pass through as lead singers
They do their own set and also have an open mike segment where singers and players can come up and play a couple of songs with them
Filling out the band are another friend of mine, a black American named Rock Deadrick on drums. Rock is a great musician in his own right, having played with folks like Billy Preston, Tracy Chapman and Ben Harper to name just a few
Jelani from the Rebel Rockers is on keyboards
These ard really top rate musicians
On a sidenote, Tony and Fully are the people who gave me my nickname of Mikey The Blemblam, over 30 years ago and Fully was Peter Tosh's bass player the last three or four years he was alive
I have known them since the 70's and even worked as an associate producer on the second Soul Syndicate Album Was Is and Always
Tony and I played in a band together for a few years in the early 80's
So if you like authentic Reggae music or just want an excuse to go have a couple drinks on a Sunday in a cool spot, be there or be square

Great post, I love Reggae Music. I wished I could of seen Lucky Dube Live before he passed.
Blem, this sounds like a terrific Sunday afternoon and Seal Beach is right next door - Thanks!
BTW, the local politics has Sunset Beach (next to Seal Beach) being absorbed by Huntington Beach and listings for Don the Beachcomber will have Huntington Beach as the town. So, these days, the only thing that counts is the address, 16278 Pacific Coast Highway.

A little taste of the entertainment you''ll be getting.
FULLY FULWOOD BAND FEATURING TONY CHIN AT THE ELBO ROOM SAN FRANCISCO
Performing Live at The Inland Empire Reggae Festival 2010 at The National Orange Show in San Bernardino, CA
Tell Tony you are " friends" with Mikey Da Blemblam
He is Chinese Jamaican and used to wear one if those Chinese straw hats and we would tell him he looked like a Viet Cong up on stage
He is quite possibly the funniest human being I have ever known because he never deliberately tries to be funny
He has a slight stutter so he will say things like
For me t-to bbbbe with a ggirl she have to ha vvvve a nnice b--- ody, a good --- per-ssonality or a prettt-tty face
Or one time we were talking about Leroy Smart, who he hadn't seen in twenty years
Ddamn, him owe me ttwo d-dollars
Lovely, lovely person
One of my favorite people I have ever known
Just got back ...just went for an hour as I had the kids..but the kids dug it and it was great. Thanks Blem! Jah Rasta you old raggamuffin rasta rebel...I would never tell anyone I knew you by the way Blem, why the hell would I disgrace myself like that? Especially around some heavy cats...( OK ..I didn't really get a chance..the kids are a handful) ! Jah Rasta Blem! FIGHT ON ( oh I did rock the black SC hat of course..rebel style..gotta do that!)
Feelings get hurt, best not to have any!
