Told u guys. Surprises are coming
Duke your killing us just a tidbit.
Just curious: What's wrong with saying 'Trojan Nation'?
Personally, I say 'Trojan family', but didn't know there was anything wrong with saying 'Trojan Nation'.
exactly! We've had every other emotion today. Why not end the night being excited for tomorrow!
cant wait lol
Is it a secret... Why can't the 5 names be thrown out there?
Stop it, phear. I am warning you!
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
Ummm...that can actually be disputed pretty well today.
It's a small sample size. It's easy to miss and look like a fool when your first option is generally your only option. It's hit or miss here, we have 15 to give not 25. I don't think you'll ever find a 7-6 team with a class near as good as this one. In fact..I challenge you...I know you're going to say UCLA, but if USC had 25 to give I can think of a whole host of players that wouldn't be there.

Small sample size?
I didn't bother reading anything past that.
The only day that matters is signing day. No awards for best class in July.
We basically lost Massington, Fitts, EV, Prevot, Hatcher, Ramsey, and Falah, with no Plan B's. That's over a third of the class.
Granted, we basically traded Massington for LM3, then tried to defer Fitts, and it didn't work. And ironically, it sounds like we lost EV because of our pursuit of AR, and we struck out on both.
The key here is PLAN B. I would love to be proved wrong tomorrow, but I don't see it. I believe we got left at the alter with most of these guys.

If you're an alum, long time fan, or even a newer fan, then it's family, never nation.
That's just the way it is at USC.
We let the Raiders 'do' "Nation"....and then we all laugh.
Alright. Got it. Thanks.
How many other schools this year have dealt with multiple decommitments? I can guarantee you, USC isn't the only school. Only difference is when you have a full 25 to offer, you can gamble, so what? you Jjalen Ramsey decommited, but you already have your Jermaine Kelly committed, because you can gamble and take more project/ second option guys. You're saying that by losing guys (one of whom did something the head coach blantently told them not to do, got hurt and wanted the school to help with rehab) Kiffin can't recruit? Sure, they decommited, but look at the kids that DID commit, look at the prospects about to sign and look at a certain linebacker that if it wasn't for his mother, would be here, still heavily considering USC. Ramsey's decision was down to his dad..what did you want Kiffin to do? Hire that specific coach? It's one prospect, but WHY is it so monumental? Because we can't just offer players like other schools can. We don't have the rides available. Yeah a backup plan is nice, but we've seen how certain players don't like backup plans being brought on visits. We can't gamble with the numbers were dealing with. If we do, we end up with players that aren't SC caliber. We also run an incredibly high risk of a decommitment, especially with players OOS. This is nothing short of a double edged sword.
But yes, because a few players decided they didn't want to come to USC this year, makes Kiffin a bad recruiter..is taking a small sample size. You're completely ignoring the class we have enrolled. He's not a great coach, but the man can recruit.

You don't get it.
The strategy is not to offer 25 and hope 15 stick.
The Ramsey situation sucks. No doubt. But why are we finding out TODAY. If the coaches were totally blindsided, they failed. We tossed a half assed schollie at Kelly today, and that's the Plan B? That ship sailed a few months back.
Thomas was a reach. Never part of the plan. A home run swing. If we don't get him, no sweat. If we do, great.
At any level of executive management, the key is to identify risk, and develop effective countermeasures. Of course the staff knows OOS players have a higher rate of decommitment. By targeting and pursuing them, they should reasonably have a fall back option.
10 or 11 kids in this class means we won't win a championship in the next 3 years. 16 or 17 gives us a shot. With the sanctions, it comes down to numbers (depth).
