Folks, here's the thing: Oregon is as good as advertised. Better. This was a conference win on the road against a defense with stats that put them in the top 10 in several categories. I'm not saying they'll win the National Title or even win on November 3. But they are freakin' GOOD: well coached, careful to not make mistakes and they don't shoot themselves in the foot. They pounced on the many opportunities ASU handed them.
I think it's fair to say (and no great shocker) that Kiffin, Barkley, Woods, Lee, Redd & McNeal will need to have the offensive game of their lives to seal the deal on November 3.
Join the fight for YOUR liberty!
They played great tonight, but Az State minus Sutton and Oneyali sucks.
Oneyali is their 2nd best and he went down early in the game too.
Oregon is a damn good team, obviously, but ASU hadn't done anything but lose to a weak ass Missou team and smoke a few weak ass teams.
For the record: I wasn't one of the guys in here pumping up this game as Oregon's "First True Test". They were impressive, but they did not beat an impressive team. I feel like there is a difference.
Oregon is good obviously but arizona state had done squat so far in the season. Missouri beat them with there backup qb.
bottom line OU is the real deal
And what impressive team did we beat?
Oregon can be beat. Barkley and Co. will just have to execute at a high level.
Play calling will have to be like recruiting: no room for misfires or mistakes!
Oregon will be very tough to beat. To beat TWICE......
Much more impressed by the 49-0 blanking of Zona and what it showed from the defense. Excited for Nov. 3 to really find out a lot more about both teams.
USC 2013-2014 All Sports Head-to-Head Record: 257-112-2 (0.695)
My USC Football Attendance Streak (Home and Away): 48
Don't count out osu just yet....
I am. They have no shot.
We'll beat them twice, mark it down. Our defense is built to beat Oregon and they're soft up the middle on defense. ASU tried to play Oregon's game...that's a no no.
I love what chip kelly has done up in Oregon. I love the spread that they run. I love how much of the NFL is turning to quick strike spread-type defenses, and I don't understand why other teams don't utilize some aspects of it.
David Harris said it best of the Patriots offense: "It's very difficult. You'll see defenses not even lined up and they're already running a play. They get a lot of extra yardage because of it. It causes guys to lose their mind. You can see it on film."
Of course its no coincidence that chip and belichick are friends.
Ourselves on some occasions, unfortunately.
Hold on. Oregon played on the road and didn't have stupid drive killing penalties?? They must simply have better players than USC. Posters have been advocating USC's issues with lack of discipline is due to road games and the players and has nothing to do with coaching.
I see what you're saying...but wasn't this oregon's first real road game? not fourth out of six without two in a row at home?
Oregon is good...but they certainly aren't anywhere near the benchmark for me. Alabama, Alabama, Alabama. THAT is football, real football..not video games.

Sorry to rain on the parade but we'll be dam lucky if Ore doesn't hang 50+ on SC. SC has a LONG way to go to stop the duk offense. Our DBs just arent up to the task which will put more pressure on the LBs. By the 4th quarter our DTs will likely be gassed.
On offense USC will get bull-rushed by a tough defensive line and blitzed often by some fast CBs. To date, SC doesn't manage the offense very well when MB is rushed.
This doesnt mean it cant change before then. We saw it happen last year...but Matt needs time and our DBs need to step up.
Wow. You're so full of shit, I don't even know where to start.
The SC DBs won't be up to which task exactly? Tackling their RBs in the open field? That is actually one area where they have been reliable for the most part.
Then again, maybe it's Mariotta's 400+ passing yards per game....oh wait, he throws for less than 200 ypg!!!
Who is going to get bull rushed? Dion Jordan is their most reliable pass rush threat and he is a speed rusher. I'm not done with him though. You know what his weakness is? He is undersized, bro. That means that downhill running game will be coming right at his lanky ass(6'7 241), put him on his heels and slow down his speed rush. He is the only difference maker on that "tough" Dline. The rest are in the back 7.
Hopefully those aggressive CBs keep trying to jump that bubble screen and go for picks and big hits. They'll be ripe for the deep ball, just like they were last year.
I really want to see SC beat the Ducks, because I love the Trojans. I'm not gonna lie though. It's going to be that much sweeter when you chicken littles have to shut up with this whiny shit.
Oregon is a very good team and they have plenty of advantages coming into this game, but every argument you made makes absolutely no sense!!
Nah. Oklahoma is overrated.
They couldn't hang 40 on us in Eugene, 30 without a kick return, and they are going to hang 50 on us at the Coli with us having a better D this year? You are one confident guy.
Nice to see the blind loyalty is still in full effect. But, having actually watched SC play every game for decades I just don't see 1) DBs that can stop a 15-yard pass, 2) an offensive line that can protect the QB on every play, and 3) an offensive line that can create running lanes for a ground game.
Add the ridiculous "focus" penalties and SC is in tough shape.
Oregon 2012 is not Oregon 2011.
Feel free to disagree...we'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks.
Different team, different year.
this oregon team isn't as good as last years oregon team. We should destroy their OL upfront and their DL in the middle
