What if USC takes one less player for 2014. That way Kylie could enroll early or is this not possible. I am just trying to be creative so Fitts can attend USC early.
The problem is the 75 limit this Spring, not the 15 yearly limit.
We cannot violate the 75 scholarship limit.
This is what is preventing Fitts from being enrolled.
Looks like the staff was expecting a Senior to graduate in the Fall and when that did not happen, there was one less EE spot for an incoming Freshman.
The ncaa would never go for that, they have sc right where they want them.
Thank you for the clarification. Why would the NCAA care about the scholarship limit in the spring when football is not being played.
Teams would load up in the spring, pick the best, then sign the 85 or 75 into the season.
The scholarship is for an academic year, not a sports season.
The way that kids can enroll in January is by the mid-year exception rule, that states that an incoming Freshman come enroll early provided that a Senior graduates in the Fall or a kid leaves early for the NFL. That way, the EE kid essentially takes the scholarship allocation from the departing player.
If we were at 85 kids right now, we would still be in the same boat, because we cannot violate the maximum number at all.
what about woods going pro. cant he take his spot?
Always wanted to be a procrastinator but never got around to it.
Reading the various posts, it seems like a Senior that was supposed to graduate in the Fall did not end up graduating.
I bet CLK counted Woods' departure for LMIII and that one Senior's spot for Fitts.
Does anyone know who that senior is?
He might have the initials N.R. and he might not be a senior.
They say there's a silver lining in every cloud, but in this case, I would be happy for a lining made out of nickel. Very happy, actually.
Yup. USC has to stay at 75. These 14 guys we know won't be at USC next year:
That brings the count down to 61, however, because USC can only bring in 7 EEs to remain at 75, that means only 7 of the guys above will not be enrolled at USC for the Spring semester, when the staff was expecting 8 to leave.
We know Woods, Barkley, McDonald and Holmes will be gone, prepping for the NFL (not to mention all but Woods graduated, I believe). Markowitz already has his undergraduate degree as well, so he's likely gone as well, since he is unable to continue his pursuit of a master's degree, on scholarship.
McAllister, McNeal, Baucham, Burnett, Negrete and Horton are all redshirt-Seniors, so you'd think they should be most ahead in their studies. I suspect two of these six have graduated, while another one of the six was supposed to, but did not.

Not trying to be nit-picky here, but I think you have our punters confused. I think Kyle Negrete is the one that exhausts his eligibility this season not Kris Albarado. Pretty sure Albarado is going to be a redshirt sophomore in the 2013 season.
I think you mean Kyle Negrete not Kris Albarado whos is a RSFr unless he's transferring?

Yup, meant Negrete, my bad. Just changed it.
