What makes you think it's someone else?
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
Well, as soon as I posted refhater said it wasn't someone from the first tier of coaches they contacted and Hopkins seemed like he was a top choice all along.
On a side note, I came across this page and it was a little surprising to me:

Rice is never leaving UNLV unless he gets fired and that's not happening anytime soon. Rice is the west coast version of Pastner. Great recruiter but can't coach.
I'm not in line with the idea...just the messenger.
edit: I take that back...I could warm to the idea.

Nothing conclusive from that article. So much for your "research"
He may or may not be wealthy according to that fantastic piece of journalism you posted
There are other stories out there for you to consider. The point is he is not about the $$$. He is an overachiever.
This guy is right on, it's either a done deal or it won't happen. Can't go wrong with that prediction!
Rice?!? Oh hell no. Total underachiever with great talent. People in Vegas already wanting someone else.

Tommy, Rebel, and our newest rescue Harley!
Oh wait, but I thought you and many others said that SC does not "Overlook" its big 3 sports.
Unfortunately I agree with you. This hire stinks and was very lazy. It seems that they had their heart set on Dixon, which I applaud them for and was excited about, but once that fell through their search fizzled. There are many other great mid major coaches out there that I'm sure SC could get if they just opened their eyes. I cant believe the names of Buzz Williams or Gregg Marshall aren't being mentioned by the administration.
Hopefully this rumor is all BS, but if not, I envision years of basketball that will be reminiscent of the Stan Morrison,Charlie Parker, Henry Bibby, Jim Saia and Kevin O'Neil teams. All poor hires by USC because they continuously OVERLOOK our basketball program, and Im pissed because it deserves better.
This coming from a UMN student, USC does NOT want Tubby Smith. If Texas Tech hired him, good. He sucks. Every year it was the same story; play well to start the year and then get torched in conference play. Yes, the BigTen is a good basketball conference, however, losing 11 of the final 15 regular season games? Pass.
I said football.
Look it up.
My source tells me that who SC hires will bring much needed up tempo fire to the offense..no more KO style boring BBall! Definite work is being done to bring in a very good coach. Multiple top tier contacts were made, not just the one. I can definitely tell you that significant efforts are being made to upgrade all sports at SC. The search for the baseball coach is also ongoing ..nothing is being overlooked!
I would rather see us hire a cardboard cutout of Tubby Smith than see us hire the actual human Tubby Smith.

Fight On! Leave No Doubt.
That's encouraging. No reason why our baseball team is so bad since we're a baseball blue blood.
Also no reason to not bring some of the local basketball talent here instead of everywhere else it seems as of late.

baseball is tough since we do get all the top prospects, we just can't get them to stay at SC over the mlb. also, the scholarship limitations in baseball make it difficult to get a good group of players here.
Whoops, that second line was meant for basketball, not baseball. I don't mind losing baseball players to the draft.
Really happy to hear all of that.
I said this in another thread, but the fact that no one has been hired yet makes me feel like Haden is trying to get one the guys who are still going in the tourney- Williams, Marshall and Enfield.
Any of those three would be a home run. Hopefully Haden is talking to all three.
and/or Hopkins, of course
Freedom through Vigilance
Nothing is being overlooked...this time.
IMHO, the deeper Syracuse goes into the NCAAs , the stronger the possibility that Boeheim might want to retire on top
He says he's coming back in 2013. After that, who knows.
I was just going to post the same thing, but I think he only retires if he wins it all.
One of my best friends who is a Syracuse alum (and headed to the Final Four) said there is a strong feeling among manyalums that this is Boeheim's last season.
Join the fight for YOUR liberty!
There'll be a strong push to bring in a Jay Wright rather than promote from within. We'll see.
