Same guy who told me it wouldn't happen, just told me it's been finalized.

Of the "untested" he's at least a top 3 IMO.
Under the incompetent circumstances probably the best available.
If Haden is happy with the NCAA aspect then I am excited.
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
it's rediculous to think think it, but if he comes anywhere close to what JB in Syracuse has done,
this will end up changing the College basketball landscape in LA. which i do believe will happen with the right coach,
Mike Hopkins sounds like the right guy to me. FO!
We'll see if it's true. My buddy could just be biting on a planted rumor. It seems as if all of the candidates, though current HC's are getting extensions and more money. Hopkins may want his piece of the fear money from Syracuse and they havne't come forth. From what I reviewed, it appeared that the NCAA investigation is a bit more involved than previously thought.
I couldn't imagine that there would be formal announcement until after Syracuse is out of the tournament.
Which could happen today. Indiana looked mighty good so far.
I guess the NCAA (which was fairly minor according to some media outlet) wasn't a deal killer.
I wouldn't mind Hopkins. However, I do fear:
1. This would become a Head Coach in training job which might turn into a bball version of Kiffin 2.0.
2. The moment he starts to show star power, he bounces back to Syracuse.
Still better than having O'Neill the last few years.
You back track quick. From done deal to planted rumor in three minutes. lol
LOL! So true. The rumors are are bountiful and plenty
Read my original post. Same guy who told me it was not going to happen told me it was a done deal. Did you not understand the implication that the source is questionable?
That being said, I'm getting forwarded email exchanges that appear to indicate its not just a rumor.
I would love to see us kick the tires on Buzz Williams or Gregg Marshall....
A insider to their board was saying yest it's pretty much a done deal
Very surprising with what's about to go down at Cuse. If he's at all successful, he's gone right when Boeheim finally retires as well.
On 'cuse's board?
I call bullshit.
Yea sorry about that
I think his wife is from the Syracuse area. I almost like the fact that he'll need to have success at USC to prove he's the true heir at Syracuse. He'll have to get us to the tournament and win a game, though.
I had dinner with Boeheim two summers ago and he didn't look or sound like anyone who was going to retire any time soon.
Much respect to all speculation; just check the hashtags for Syracuse related info, nothing about Hopkins in them, although I did see where Boheim is not retiring. FWIW.
Fun stuff to read....
My friend is a Syracuse alum and she would be super pissed if Hopkins left. She is ready for Boeheim to retire now and for Hopkins to take over.
Hopefully she ends up being pissed...
Thanks for sharing "Oz". Interesting read... I can see that the Cuse fanbase thinks highly of Hopkins.
If true this is very disappointing.
Very disappointing and a very lazy search.
He's HCIW at one of the national powers and seems to have been doing most of their recruiting and conducting their practices. Would be a great hire as long as NCAA stuff checks out.
It's a poor hire if true.
And it's still Boeheim's team no matter how much "extra stuff" is on Hopkins desk plate.

The question is not whether he can recruit. The question is "Can he coach?".
