I flat out got sentimental choked up goose bumps for this great young man. Fight on Marqise!!
What he enjoyed the most: “I think the ceremony, seeing everybody in their suits. A lot of people out there were looking fly, it was crazy. How happy parents were just to be there, kids from all over. Even though some kids didn’t win, the mindset of them being there. I talked to a couple players after who didn’t win and they said it was a great experience to be there. Same with me. I understand that I won, but going there and having the opportunity to be in the same category as Terrance (Williams of Baylor) and Stedman (Bailey of West Virginia), who are great receivers that I watch 24/7. It’s an amazing accomplishment.”
When they started the announcement what went through his mind: “My heart was beating so fast. They said ‘next is the Biletnikoff’, and I was like, oh my god. My heart was racing to tell you the truth. Once I won, all my teammates came to mind. From Robert to Barkley, and the linemen especially for maintaining their blocks. We had a tough season. Just how much we put into it, no matter how tough the season was, on both offense and defense. This award is not just necessarily for me, but for my coaches and my defensive and offensive players. As for the trophy, I probably won’t take it home to tell you the truth. I’ll probably just leave it in the locker room or make sure they make a plaque in the locker room so all players can enjoy it.”
If he was nervous: “I wasn’t really that nervous, yeah I was. I was. I was very nervous. Answering questions in front of the top kids in the nation, it was ridiculous... I had to think about what I was saying the whole time. It was a great experience to be on the stage. The worst part was having to catch that ball on the stage from Johnny. I was like, ‘what the? Catch the ball?’. I haven’t caught a ball in a long time. I was really nervous during that session, I didn’t want to drop the ball. Overall I enjoyed it. It was fun.”
Representing USC: “It’s very important. No matter what I do, even if it isn’t football, I represent USC. You always have to make sure you have a positive mindset and do the things you need to do to represent your school. I go here and that’s why I choose to represent it for the rest of my life. No matter what I know I’ll represent it. In that case, earning this award was very important. For the Biletnikoff at least. We always have finalists and now somebody won it. That’s for everybody. I won this trophy for everybody before me. That includes Robert. I feel like Robert deserves it. He did an amazing job this year and the years before. It’s for everybody else.”
Idea to keep the trophy here: “It just came up right now actually. My mom’s going to be upset, but it’s the decision. I want it to stay here... One of my goals is to improve of this year and next year do better. Hopefully, I can take that one home if I take it there again. That’s one of the goals.”
Trophy: “I actually get the trophy in February, but they let me carry it upstairs. It was like sixty pounds. Fifty-six I think. It was really heavy. I struggled with it, I’m not going to lie, I struggled with it...”
Outfit: “...I don’t wear suits like that. Suits aren’t something I wear, I wear sweats and a tee shirt.”
A coaches contribution: “...I got it finalized by coach Tee. I sent him a pic to make sure it’s okay and to get his approval. He gave his approval and it turned out okay at the end of the day.”

Wow! Just Wow!
This story is epic.
Marqise reminds us ALL that we represent:
"Representing USC: “It’s very important. No matter what I do, even if it isn’t football, I represent USC. What a phenomenal young man. Our beloved university is blessed.
I absolutely love that he mentioned Roberts Woods by name before anyone else.
