Well, it's a little slow during the offseason. Might as well enjoy a little historical perspective
on this fine Sunday afternoon.
Teams compared: USC vs Alabama
Games compared: All games all-time vs the Big 4 Conferences + the 6 Major Independents.
= vs PAC12, SEC, BIG10, BIG12 (SWC/Big8 included),
& ND, Penn St, Pitt, Syracuse, Miami(FL), & Florida St.
BAMA 69-50-4 (58%) 123g
USC - 66-46-1 (59%) 113g
What's so great about that you might be thinking? The records are almost identical.
What makes it the G.o.a.t. stat?
Well, considering that is USC's ROAD record only, compared to Alabama's overall record
I'd say that qualifies as great.
Here's the entire comparison -
BAMA....69-50-4 ...(58%) 123g 17-18-0 (49%) 35 road games
USC....178-101-11 (63%) 290g 66-46-1 (59%) 113 road games
USC absolutely 'em!
Bama wins were basically confined to one region...the old SWC and the SEC...because of segregation. Big programs in the BIG-10 refused to play them.
USC dared to play everyone, rather they were segregated teams or not..Alabama, Texas, etc...count that over a long history....

"Here are provided seats of meditative joy, where shall rise again the destined reign of Troy." Virgil
Alabama was 9-14-1 vs the old SWC, they pretty much looked for and found southern comfort playing the weak southern indepedent and ACC teams.
