We bring in Gene from Auburn? Kevin Steele from Clemson? Bud Foster from Va Tech? we need to get back to playing downhill and aggressive ball.
Knowing Monte is highest paid assistant in college football, I would love to have LSU's DC if we can lure him away with $$$$
Gene - meh
Kevin Steele- i don't know where he is. He was fired by Clemson for giving up 70 in a BCS bowl.
Foster- isn't he aalmost Monte Kiffins age?
No to anyone from the SEC...they only see simplistic offenses. They couldn't handle the different looks of the PAC 12 along with above average quarterbacks
LSU'S DC is Chavis who was Fulmers right hand man at Tennessee. Work for Lane Kiffin? Uh nope.
Tee Martin is a young and up and coming coach. Chavis is a veteran coach who was fired/ not retained/ unceremoniously let go by Tennessee to make room for the Kiffins. I won't be surprised.
CEO will be our next DC or he'll leave. Expect Monte to get plenty of consultant dollars.
Would love CEO as our next DC but what type of defense would he run? Will he stay with the shitty Tampa 2 or run an aggresive 4-3 or 3-4 defense?

I would love D'Wayne Walker
Wasn't the knock against him that he couldn't stop the spread? That's not good right now in the Pac 12.
Technically CEO is already the DC, so bringing in someone new makes it somewhat problematic. Unless it happens to be someone like Joe Barry (which could happen if Norv Turner is canned in SD).
Same thing goes for the 'offensive coordinator' position held down currently by Kennedy Polamalu....
It doesn't make a difference who is the DC unless the DC is allowed to be aggressive. Unfortunately, an aggressive mindset starts with the HC.
He turned around ucla's defense when he was there, if i'm not wrong he would of been defensive coordonator when Carroll first arrived
I have to think he'll be aggressive... that's his entire personality.

The DCs for Auburn and LSU who coached against Oregon.
Big difference when you have months to prepare for an opponent instead of just a week.
They didn't win because of scheme. They won with beasts like Nick Fairley and Glenn Dorsey.
Also, Chizik beat Oregon. How does he look this year?
What's the reality of us landing a big name, proven DC when the reality is that Kiffin may be gone without at least a very good season next year?
If we don't pull off at least an 8-4 season next year, I would assume that Kiffin is gone and, likely, that the new DC would be gone as well.
What is the advantage for a proven SEC coordinator to come here? The only reasoning I can think of would be a ridiculous amount of money.
They cut their payroll
Chizik, for as bad of a HC as he is, was a damn good DC at Texas. He'd be a coup.
But count me in the group that expects it will be CEO, which is fine so long as he is willing to change things up schematically and work with the rest of the assistants.
I think that's the best bet overall, as everyone thinks he leaves if we bring in someone else. And we need Coach O.
Do any of these wishes or predictions even matter if they don't go full contact in practice and not worry about numbers. If you don't practice tackling you're not going to do it in a game very well so it won't matter who coaches the defense.
CEO. Aggressive and simplify. Tackling in practice
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
Yeah we can stop playing so f in soft and get more aggressive on third down. Maybe actually play man and show off the skill guys we recruit.
But tackling is a huge problem. Last season the defense played outstanding when they wrapped up. Look at the results at the end of the season.
