But is really pains me to watch any other Pac-12 team win this bowl game. The Rose Bowl should ever only be won by USC and I consider the Rose Bowl "The USC Bowl". I know, I know most on here do not cheer for the conference (especially with the conference lack of support for USC in the past and well present), but I for the most part root for the PAC-12 when playing out of conference games, well within reason...I tend to always root against UCLA. Well congrats to the trees, may 2013 restore normalcy to the Pac-12.
Congrats to coach Shaw, a coach who is very stoic on the sidelines. A coach who doesnt talk to his qb (or team) much during a game. A guy that is not a rah rah guy. A guy who has a denny's menu for a playsheet.
The similarities are evident.
The differences - glaring.

This is a USC board, most moderators would delete a thread not related. Go suck up to Stanford on their board!!!
Always wanted to be a procrastinator but never got around to it.
Doesn't Pep Hamilton call the plays?
Shaw has an elite DC with an elite defense. Otherwise he's just another Denny's menu guy who needs to hire an OC. Stanford is 82nd in total offense. 66th in scoring offense. 49th in rushing offense. 92nd in passing offense.
Seems some of these numbers may be skewed since they pound the rock so much. All in all they are a very solid team, disciplined and sound.
You know, I'm getting sick and tired of the Denny's reference guys. Are you all freakin' blind? It definitely - DEFINITELY - is more of a Waffle House menu.
God, you people ...
Not really. UCLA and ASU ran the ball nearly 100 more times than Stanford. Arizona also ran more. Agree that they're a very solid team though.
I absolutely love how Stanford plays football. They play how it should be played.
Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
they also had many more plays. A better look would be percentage of runs and passes. Not running enough vs UW cost Stanford a chance at the national title this year
but Shaw has the added advantage of not being a spoiled little bitch.
I was shocked when they said Stanford hadn't won a Rose Bowl since 1972. The Jim Plunkett/Randy Vataha days! (Ugh Jimmy Jones days for SC when they went 6-5-1)
I could have sworn Stanford had one good season around 1994.
yes congrats to stanford.
I am soo jealous of their team. If we had the same type of coaching, focus etc, with our players, we would be awesome.
But we dont.
Stanford represented the P12 well today. I hate oregon but i hope they win too-
readin the 2 posts above this one i got a deja vu kinda feelin back to those days. 70/71 and a couple of like 6-4-1 seasons and "fans" callin for McKay's head and we needed to change the "O" to the wishbone like the other schools(OK,Texas,Nebraska etc.) were doin so well and then POW, the '72 team rolls in and all is forgiven............. just like in '62..........."67. i think it was about this(71?) time that Pat Haden lived with the McKay's for about a year= could be he remembers all the crap that McKay got from the "fans" and he will allow CLFK time to "fix it". BUT, i could be wrong
At times Stanford looks like the only team in the Pac-12 that knows how to use a weight room.
After LK has won two Nattys, we will have to give him a little more leeway. Until then...
