My thoughts exactly
I told my buddy if Seattle got home field advantage throughout the playoffs they wouldn't lose a game. I've never seen such an advantage in the NFL. Maybe Denver when Elway took them back to back? KC? (Not so much now though)
"If this was a prize fight they'd call it off"- F ND!
Would love to see Pete do it on both levels that would be awesome!
Agreed ... if not this year, within 3 years I think the chances are good Seattle can win the SB.
I would not have written that a month ago, how quickly fortunes rise and fall in college and NFL football.

Maybe not this year, but you would think they would be better in the next 1-3 years.
I have no idea whether Seattle can make it to or win the Super Bowl this year, but I will say that Pete has those guys playing REALLY well right now. The odds are against them, but I'm not willing to say it's impossible.
Help A Better LA bring peace to the South LA community. Are you in?
I was just reading about Kelly and his time in New Hampshire, and I guess his offense was pretty different from what it is now, so I imagine he would just keep adapting his style to what works. They were very pass heavey at NH compared to what he does now at Oregon.
Not Chipper news, but apparently, Andy Reid has shunned Bill Bidwell (who hasn't?) and is closing in on the KC job. I would have bet the other way with his NFC roots.
If Chip leaves, it seems the Browns or Eagles will be the destination. Lovie Smith is expected to be offered by Buffalo this week.
Who are the Chargers after?
Wasn't the rumor Mora Jr.
In AZ for the Fiesta Bowl with some K-State people.
Talked to a few Oregon people, they seem to come to the realization that Chip is all but gone.
3 NFL teams are here to interview him and check him out in the game tonight.
So we'll see...
When a Spanos is involved, it's hard to tell.
Conventional wisdom says they'd hire a GM first. Read an article earlier this week that the organization wants a high profile/sexy choice, as the new Mayor in SD said there will be no sweetheart deal in SD for a new stadium.
The article points out that they want a solid choice that would be "LA Market" worthy....they used Phil Jackson/Pete Carroll as benchmarks. The rumor of the Chargers to LA (Farmers Field) still has legs....they'd play in the Rose Bowl until the new stadium is completed.
Regarding sexy/high profile names....there just aren't too many of those out there. Kelly would be a good choice though.
Gruden's name came up, but the article really dug into his record -- I was a little shocked that his record was very average....even with Tampa Bay. The writer gave that Super Bowl victory credit to..................Tony Dungy.
He'd be a pretty good choice. I remember 3 years ago, the old board thought Dungy would be a perfect fit for USC, and would work really well with Mike Garrett.
Dstyle is right...there was a Mora Jr. rumor....not sure how strong that is though.
If I were the Chargers, I'd hire Mike Homgren as the GM and go from there.

I'd pass on Homgren, he didn't do much in Clev.
It's nice he could wash his hands and move on from that draft last year.
Could have taken RG3 and turned the franchise around, instead he keeps his 2 1st round picks and takes Trent Richardson the RB and a 30 year old rookie QB who is maxed out on potential.
Horrible non move!!!! Set the franchise back, now someone else has to clean his mess up.
Completely agree with your premise above...however, I read Haslam mandated they get more picks for their original draft position---must be a deciple of Jerry Jones. When will owners learn to STFU and just stay out of the way? The Redskins owner finally learned that lesson when he hired Shannahan.
Still think Holmgren's one of the Chargers best options for a GM.....especially since Spanos Sr. has given weight to giving the job to one of his offspring. Now THAT would be a bad move.
I find it interesting, that a franchise like SD isn't getting as much pub as KC, AZ, Buffalo and Philly. Chicago's been rather quiet, too.
Ya, who the hell knows who is making these picks. Those war rooms are such a mess!
Is it the GM, top scout, president, owner, head coach etc etc... Everyone has their own idea but the ONLY person with the ultimate power is the owner. To be a fly on the wall inside some of those war rooms!
Wasn't Holmgren the coach/GM in Seattle for about 4-5 years rom 98-02?? Didn't do so hot so the owner relieved him of his GM duties. I think after they hired another GM, the team really took off.
I'm just not the biggest fan of Mike as a GM.
As a coach? Sure! Maybe he takes 1 of these openings in the NFL.
Just read that Spanos is interviewing front office guys from both the NY Giants and Indy Colts.
I have to agree that Holmgren's best days, were in the coaching dept........in GB and as O-Cord for Bill Walsh.
Looks like the Ducks will promote Mark Helfrich as HC according to USA today.
