With MLB draft coming up in June , who is worried about losing our top 10 recruiting class . We have bad team and this recruiting class could help USC a lot . With Dominic Smith , JP Crawford , Ryan McMahon . Jeremy Martinez . Riley Unroe . Rowdy Tellez, Possibly going in 1st round how does USC get back to where it was . ?

I've seen 3 different mocks of the 2013 draft, and only Smith and Crawford are picked to go in the 1st round. Unless the NCAA allows more scholarships to be handed out, or SC
allows academic scholarship money to be used for baseball like Stanford does, its going to be really tough for SC to return to the stature that it once had in baseball.

With the comp rounds ?
No, they didn't list the projected compensation picks in the 1st round. It really doesn't matter if they're taken in the first round, Rio Ruiz got first round money last year after he
was taken in the 4th round by the Astros. That's why its hard to get excited about baseball recruits!
anyone have a list of our baseball commitments?
Dominic Smith 1B Serra, Jeremy Martinez C Mater Dei, Joe Corrigan 1B/OF Harvard Westlake, Ryan Tellez 1B Elk Grove, JP Crawford SS Lakewood, Frankie Rios SS Long Beach Poly, Riley Unroe SS Desert Ridge, Ryan McMahon 3B Mater Dei
Hope these kids stick it through and get an education.
“Close tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share,” Reagan vowed.
We could have used Tarpley this year. One of the better prospects we've had in the past couple of years.
SC has been snake bit!! Even when they keep a player away from MLB (Tarpley, Garvey), they end up losing them to a JC transfers. In Garvey's case he never
played a game for SC, and Tarpley transferred after being named a freshman all-american.
Garvey did not hit well on the JC level ,drafted low , not a great loss IMO.Tarpley had a good year in JC ball and will be drafted high.We will ose 3 maybe 4 players to the draft.College baseball has always been about putting plan B in place after the draft.USC did a great job of this last year ,, need to find pitchers.
Is the baseball draft different today then when USC had its dominant teams?
There are just more great options as far as great programs to play baseball.USD is an example , great weather and a beautiful park and great coach.Fullerton , Fresno , LB st. Oregon , ruins , Stanford and Ariz. school are just a few options for players now a days.
also doesn't hurt that cost of tuition at those schools are very low especially for in state players. so if they manage to get a 70% scholarship all they would need to pay is a couple grand as opposed to 10-20 grand more at SC.
