I agree as well.
Sometimes the far removed perspective can provide a broader, less conflicted view. While I've never met any of the Armsteads and can only go by what I read and hear on this site and elsewhere, the drama orchestrated by Guss Armstead in Arik's recruitment and Armond's medical issues has every indication of a father's unchecked ego, butt-hurt feelings, and need for power/control trumping everything else.
Maybe it's just a byproduct of the internet/instant information available that we learn far more of what transpires during a high-profile athlete's recruitment, but anecdotally, it sure seems far more often than not that when the role of a parent becomes such a prominent component of determining where a son goes to school, the kid's college career is far more noteworthy for his recruitment than his accomplishments on the field.
I agree, man.
RoJo announced at his church too
Gregg Ballard is the last player who went to Oregon and played Football and Basketball and did well at both.

Potholes for us, Pensions for them

No Excuses,'' 11 x National Campions anyday, anytime ,anywhere.
yur also gunna hear "2nd year in a row USC beat Oregon's ASS
his family(Gus) painted him into a corner where the time was running out on him,and Gus ego is to big to fall back on his threat to USC (AA to play elsewhere) just flat out silly and immature on both Gus and Arik part apparently they never ask Armond what he thought and his experiences at SC
Cuts nose off to spite face...
Agree. Good luck AA....and I'm glad all the drama is going with you to the quackers.

Congratulations to Arik Armstead. Good luck in his career. I think he may the only Oregon Duck player I will root for.
In hindsight, who is the bigger potential loss, Arik or McCarthy? Teo hurt but never committed to usc in the media, Burfict you can argue was a trainwreck, but dude had attitude on and off the fied. Jarvous Jones was the 2nd coming of willie mc or K. Rivers, but the private school doctors stepped in and he stepped out and now is an all american and future 1st round talent. Telfort never had the opportunity to shocase his abilities in a SC uniform. Alshon Jeffery and Joe Adams would have been great to see at the Coli, but I prefer Woods and Lee! Any other that you guys can think of?
How much did AA run Phil?
Anyway, I thought I'd look in on y'all. Lots of class here on the board (with a couple exceptions). Good luck to you guys (obviously minus one game - probably 2), and here's to the Pac unseating the SEC next year.
Other than my ducks, I always cheer for you boys.
So ur saying there's a chance.. Haha
Jordan Kent lettered in football, basketball, and track. That was the mid 2000's... and really only did well in track. Watching him in the other two sports was just painful. It's been a long time since ballard, and I doubt Armstead pulls it off.
Canaduck, off-topic question for you real quick. I've never been to Canada, is "Showcase" a popular channel? Also, do they censor any curse words on Canadian television? Just wondering, because I am a big fan of the Canadian show "Trailer Park Boys" which aired on "Showcase" from 2001-2007, and I really doubt that show would have been aired in the U.S., unless it was on HBO/Showtime/etc., because of its content/language haha
Pot calling the kettle black. Grow up boy!!!
another one talkin shit that has no idea of what he is talkin about.
Haven't read all the posts over here, but his dad announced the final five teams the other day, which didn't include USC.
Anyone care to chime in on why Arik would then have a USC hat on the table of finalists?
Perhaps I'm overreacting, but that does seem to be a bit petty and insulting to me.
The drama is over - rejoice. This is not a great loss, this was becoming just a step up from the Seantrell mess IMO. I do wish that the USC hat was not on table, and the Trojans should have been dropped from anything related to his recruit long ago.
Still wish him luck, because of Mondo..and he is a good kid.
Aren't Oregon's O-linemen on the smaller and faster side to keep up with their offense? I was under the impression that they were, so assuming that is true wouldn't Arik be just as out of place on the O-Line over there?

Didn't you get the memo? Chip is going to a pro-style offense in 2012.
