Chip Kelly is a slime ball

  • DuckInTheDesert said...

How is it hypocritical? Recruiting committed players and telling our recruits if they want to look around there offer can get pulled is two completely different things.

And that isn't true. Jeremy Castro got his offer pulled last year after taking other visits.

Why did Chip Kelly recruit Castro after Castro committed to Washington? Isn't this hypocritical when Chip pulls offers from kids that visit other schools?

You people seem to forget where you're at...if I were on your board, critical of your recruiting philosophy, you have a point - but that would NEVER happen...because I don't give a damn what you say or feel about your own program or USC on your board. I or any other Trojan can be as critical, or in this case, mocking of your coach and his hypocrisy as we wish on this USC site. Debate your point, but don't question our right to express our opinions here.

USC recruits well because great players wish to be prepared for the next level, and because USC has the history and tradition to do so...but it isn't easy, and it has taken over a century of national exposure, and several eras of dominance to build the USC college football brand.

If it was simply our rich recruiting base that makes USC a national power, fUCLA would be right there with us. You people just don't get that yet, maybe you will...till then, oregon is a program on the rise, but still small time in several key areas..including recruiting philosophies. You're cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Sorry, I came over to talk recruiting. I'm not one to sit on message boards and talk trash (not saying you are either). That wasn't my intention when I came over, and I don't plan on doing it.

That isn't hypocritical. It would be hypocritical if Chip was telling other coaches not to recruit Oregon players (which he isn't).

You are correlating two completely separate things.

Chip pulls schollies from commits that visit other schools. Chip has no problem accepting visits from kids that are commited to other schools. Hypocritical.

I have my doubts Chip would have a clue how to run a pro-style offense. Any reason to suggest why anyone shouldn't have their doubts on that topic? Is that not a fair opinion to have? No knock n Chip, but Kiffin is every bit as bright as Chip, and I doubt he could coach what Chip does. They are what they are.

Lane is a bright and innovative coach with his style and same with Chip.

With much respect to the man SS, I disagree. Both Chip and Lane are good enough coaches to be able to coach any offensive philosophy. It would take them, obviously, a few years to not only bring in players that fit their system but to also get a staff that agrees with that vision.

Not sure why this simple concept is having such a tough time registering with this poster.

The hypocrisy is using the engagement analogy with his own commits and not using that same standard with kids that are "engaged" to other other programs. He's willing to be engaged to kids that cheat on others but not be engaged to those that cheat on him. What's the difference?

Wait a second. Chip's asking Oregon recruits to respect the sanctity of a commitment much like one does when engaged. Stopped looking elsewhere.

With recruits who have given a verbal commitment elsewhere, he's asking them to ignore the sanctity of that same commitment to other schools. "It's okay to look elsewhere, because it's only your word you're breaking".

If you don't think that's a hypocritical posture to take towards the meaning of commitment, then perhaps you need a refresher course on what the word means:

    Definition of HYPOCRITE

    :
    2
: a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings
