  • Good that its over... he's NEVER going to live up to the hype.... playing both basketball and football... plus playing out of position... hope the Nike degree works out for him.

    What? Hell, no!

Same source that told me AA was solid for Oregon now says Shaq Thompson is seriously considering the ducks .. Damn I hate them getting kids that are legit. . This rivalry could get even better. Please keep in mind my source up north is a Nike homer. He did call Arik though. Good luck AA

I was saying 'hell, no' in response to someone here wishing good luck to Arik Armstead.

I, for one, hope nothing but the worst for Arik in his football endeavors. I'm not wishing an injury on him, though.

Wow! Anyhow good luck to him. At least he didn't commit to Cal or ND.

True. Eventually he'll likely change positions and actually Oregon is least suited with their offensive style to capitalize.

Yeah, well, good luck to Chip Kelly, Oregon, ND, and all our rivals, as well, then.

  • Onwards and upwards for USC. Nice pick-up for the Ducks.

Plaing basketball and defense in FB? Two horrible decisions

Seriously. Gus is a diva. He's enjoying the attention more than Arik is.

No need to hate on the kid for picking the Floats. It is what it is. Good luck to him except for when he lines up against Graf, Rozay Walker, or any of SC's future OTs, in that case, I'll be looking forward to him getting pwned.

  • well what's strange is that Oregon already has 4 DE commits

yet AA still wants to play DE there? will he even beat them out for a starting spot? it seems like a bizarre situation where AA went to the school which has the least to offer in his case...

    Those are my thoughts, exactly.

The whole Armstead family's whacked in the head.

First, Gus Armstead, the father, said he wants his sons to play together. Obviously, this isn't feasible at Oregon, as USC is not allowing Armond to transfer within the conference. Under the premise that Gus wants his sons to play together, Auburn should be the choice.

Seconldy, Gus said he wants Arik to stay close to home. Based on proximity, Cal would have been the best choice.

Thirdly, seeing as how Arik has aspirations to play both B-ball and Football, Washington or Cal would have made more sense, as their basketball program is better and has better coaches, Romar and Monty.

Finally, like you mentioned, the Floats have bit of a log-jam at the DE position. Why would Arik want to play there? Even if he were to switch to Offensive tackel, Oregon's style of play doesn't capitalize on Arik's strengths.

In the end, Oregon is probably the worst fit for Arik. Oh, well.

    Slam Man,

I agree with most of your points. However, the Ducks like to rotate a lot of their defensive front seven. In fact, every possession they rotate fresh legs onto the line ever so often. Ultimately, Arik will get playing time on the defensive line as a freshman, most likely.

Otherwise, all of your other points are spot on. peace

  • Oregon's style of play may not help as far as NFL aspirations but he would just wreck people run blocking as a OT on that line.

  • I'm glad this is over. Just like with DAT, I don't hate the kid, but I wouldn't feel bad at all if he lost every game of his career up there.

The biggest plus of all of this: No more stupid ass threads asking Scott if there's even a 1/100000000000 chance of SC getting back into it with Arik. I gave up on it the first time Scott told us what the deal was, but many could not let go.

Can't wait to see Tuerk pull out and blow his ass up!!!cheers

  • I am glad this soap opera is over with. I am pretty tired of listening and reading about all the hype about this kid. I hope he is happy with his decision and do not wish him any harm. I hope we put the hurt on the Floats next year to show him the error of his mistake.
