I don't think so, at least not from the tweet. He had already hashtagged OSU, no real need to do it again.

he hashtagged OSU to let everyone know where he decommitted from. Either way, more than a few OSU fans have said he supposedly dropped them all together.

The Cautionary Tale Of @Bdubstriviaguru - Land-Grant Holy Land

The Ohio State athletic community was turned upside Thursday afternoon when it was discovered that a registered sex offender was communicating with student athletes through the social media platform Twitter. Players have since been warned with law enforcement brought in to pursue further action. Read how it all went down.

  • I really want this kid to be a Trojan but looks like we already got Sua and Hutchings on board. I just trust the coaches if they want him.

B, is this reason legit to his decommitment or is he just 'going to enjoy the process' before going back?

No he isnt coming back... it would take a miracle so it is real. He's just a kid so this could have freaked him out and I know when it came out his parents started having reservations... the de-commits arent what bother me... this guy was using twitter to run into these kids... he ran into two of our players at Chipotle and had lunch with them..luckily they paid for their own food ..if he was actively recruiting the NCAA could come sniffing again...

Sucks man, sorry to hear. Never any good when an outside source has an effect like this no matter who the school is.

  • quote:
"There's a disconnect between what Alex thought was was there (at Ohio State) and what is actually there," said his father, Dr. Sal Anzalone.

Anzalone and his father spoke to Ohio State assistant coach Luke Fickell Friday afternoon to express their concerns and to de-commit.

"Something's just not right at Ohio State," Sal Anzalone said. "It's not for him."

    quote:
"I had to make a decision that's best for me, and for my family," Anzalone said. "There's a reason behind it. I don't want to get into it; I don't want to hurt anyone.

"We've been talking about it for a week or so with my family. I need to re-evaluate things right now, slow everything down."

    quote:
Sal Anzalone said that his son had expressed his concerns that "something wasn't right" about his visit shortly after returning from Ohio last month.

The family spent the past several days privately discussing the issue, but the tipping point, Sal Anzalone said, was the photograph that appeared on the Internet.

It made him believe his son was at risk during his recruiting visit, and he became disenchanted with the Buckeyes coaching staff because of the episode.

"You don't want your son to go to a place where there's a potential issue (like this)," Sal Anzalone said. "You expect the (football) staff to have some sort of control on how things are handled with recruits when they visit. This is ridiculous.

"I was concerned with what recruits do, and with them being allowed to visit these kind of places where it puts kids at risk. That's the issue. You entrust people (at the school) to do the right thing."

While he said he doesn't believe the Buckeyes coaching staff was aware that a sexual predator had access to its recruits and players, Sal Anzalone said he is upset at what transpired.

"Of course," he said. "Who wouldn't be? I'm outraged."

Safe to say that UCLA is also out of the picture now.

Iron Mike should read the article as well as the quotes in the post above and copy parts of them into the warnings he posts about compliance and interacting with recruits.

OSU compliance got on this once they heard about it, so it's clear USC isn't the only school that's worried about fans improperly interacting with recruits, and that those who dismiss this ban as unenforceable are not taking into account the NCAA's penchant for arbitrary punishment based on minimal evidence. USC can't afford to get hammered because of some jackass like this.

    //

This also is a cautionary tale to the people who wanted to get everyone to tweet Gerald Bowman last year b/c so many OU fans were tweeting him and they were afraid SC fans seemed like we didn't care.

Well, that attention can cut both ways, as we clearly saw happen here. We don't need to be tweeting recruits to show them how passionate the SC fanbase is. Just show up on Saturdays early, stay late, and make noise the entire time. That is the best recruiting contribution fans can make.

I had the exact same reaction.

He's from PA, so there's a lot of hometown pressure for PSU.

But, being from PA, he's also been watching the whole Sandusky scandal unfold up close.

I had thought he would go to PSU prior to his OSU commitment, b/c he had been there so many times, but this creepy experience may well scare him off of both PSU and OSU.
