Actually, I really like and respect Husker fans..and anyone reading my post history knows that.
When we played Minnesota last season, I was on their board, and there was a remark about not knowing what to expect from Husker fans..I basically told them that they were the best fans in CFB.

You hit the nail on the head with the partial qualifiers... that, along with the rivalry with OU was squashed at the formation of the Big 12 which is a reason Nebraska never really felt like it fit in there. the B1G is a much stronger fit for us regionally, athletically and recruiting wise actually.
Nebraska will still have a presence in Texas but will be hitting Ohio, Pennsylvania and Illinois pretty hard now and lessening their presence in Texas to a certain extent. They've already done pretty well in Ohio picking up Greg McMullen which was the nations 6th rated SDE last year. As well as two highly rated players in Courtney Love and Marcus McWilson. They snagged Westerkamp away from Notre Dame in Illinois last year as well. All in all, very good analysis of the Nebraska situation. Thanks for you input.

Oh my...I hope some others who went to that game will chime in...they were the WORST fans USC has ever been exposed to up until that point...horrible.
They shouted obscenities, taunting that their big farm boys would kill of soft surfer fag players...throwing things, getting right in our faces prior to and during the first half..till Carson blew the doors of that game...then they all scattered like cockroaches.
On the flight home, every one was talking about it...not one single person had a positive experience with those fans. I thought about Nebraska fans having to host those people.
A few years ago, a Hawkeye fan came on the old site and asked what we thought about Iowa fans...lol, poor guy got blasted. Evidently, they at least had the decency to be ashamed of how they conducted themselves with the Trojan fans.

Probably partially in response to the weekly prison-rapings they've been getting in the PAC and partially out of gratitude to be here, they have wisely kept a very low profile since joining.
They're making their first PAC visit to the Coliseum this year, so I guess we'll get a first-hand experience with them.
Given the state of their program though, I will have to give any CU fan who makes the trip for the game some respect unless they act like a complete tool.

I am not coming here to flame.
First off I have never even remotely liked USC, but that doesn't mean that I don't respect the program and what it has accomplished.
I am just curious why a recruits interest in Nebraska, a top 5 program in total wins, is being questioned. I know our "glory days" are a decade past now. Well right around 15 years since our last national title, and 10 years since our last title appearance (which I don't think we should have played in. There were more deserving teams that year.) But back to the topic, Nebraska is a football state, we don't have the beaches, amusement parks, and ladies like So Cal does, but one area we have an advantage is that our state eats, drinks, and sleeps husker football. It is ingrained in us at a young age and continues to grow as we do. The minute a recruit gets on campus he is a celebrity. Everyone knows his name, and most of us could rattle off their most recent game stats. In my opinion that is where interest stems from. Football players come to Nebraska for football, nothing else.
If some of you could explain why a recruit shouldn't be interested in Nebraska, for discussion purposes only no flames please, I would appreciate it. I respect opinions and am curious about the national perspective of Nebraska. I won't down vote you for voicing your opinion as it is just that... Your opinion.
Best of luck this year Trojans. (do you prefer to be called something else?)

It's nothing personal. A lot of us grew up in the LA area and are use to the activities the city has to offer. The farming area lifestyle is just something most of us aren't familiar with. We say the same things about Eugene, Norman, South Bend, Tuscaloosa, et al.
I travel a lot throughout the midwest on business and I get to Lincoln at least twice a year and Omaha at least three to four times a year. Most of those people who live there wouldn't trade their lifestyle for the LA lifestyle. That goes for most places I go to in Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Minnesota, etc. Just like they don't understand why anyone would want to live in the smog and crowds of LA, we don't understand why anyone would want to live in a state of cornfields and cow pastures. The people I talk to say there is no way they ever want to move out of the farming community of 10,000 people they grew up in.
Sure, Lincoln has that area down by the old warehouse district in downtown that has new restaurants and bars and Omaha has the same with the old town area that was redeveloped into a trendy place with some nightlife, but those are only a couple blocks long, In LA, we have similar areas in Downtown LA, Old Town Pasadena, Universal City Walk, Westwood, Downtown Long Beach....and that doesn't include the OC with Downtown Disney, Huntington Beach, etc.
Again, we have our lifestyle and we're use to it and we assume most of our SoCal players are as well. But then again, there will be an occasional Ralph Brown who just wants to play at Nebraska....
