Trojan fans were treated to an exciting game at home against Arizona State. This morning they have also received some great news that Palmdale (Calif.) defensive lineman Steve Dillon committed to USC.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive end was on an unofficial visit to USC this weekend.
"I did commit to USC," Dillon said. "It just feels like home there. My family really wanted me to stay close to home and it's a great program. I talked to coach (James) Cregg and (Monte) Kiffin today and they were very excited."
He will call the rest of the USC coaches around 5 PM today to formally announce his commitment.
The game atmosphere, coaches and proximity to home are the three top factors in his decision to commit to USC.
Dillon will take three official visits he has already scheduled however. He will visit Cal on Nov. 10, Utah State on Dec. 7, and Iowa State on Dec. 11. He also plans to take an unofficial visit to USC when they host Notre Dame.
He is currently playing defensive end but could grow into a defensive tackle in college. He said he would prefer to stay at end but will play where needed.
