Just days after de-committing from Boise State, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco wide receiver Shay Fields has committed to USC.
Fields is the 8th commitment for the Trojans and third since Ed Orgeron took over as USC’s head coach following Lane Kiffin's dismissal.
Fields originally committed to Boise State on June 23, but picked up additional scholarship offers this fall following a strong start to his senior season.
"Yes sir, I committed to USC," Fields said. "I still plan on taking my visits but it feels great to be a Trojan. I'm excited to have this opportunity and play my college ball at USC. I talked things over with my family last night after I spoke to you, my dad told me to do whatever I wanted. I love the coaching staff at USC and called Coach Tee and Coach last night and told them I was committing. They were very excited and so am I. Now I am going to work on my teammates and get them to commit."
The Trojans offered the 5-foot-11, 160-pound three-star prospect on Oct. 8 and it only took two days for him to pledge to the Trojans after opening his recruitment back up.
Fields is rated 85 by 247Sports and a three-star recruit according to the 247Composite , which equally weighs prospect rankings and ratings from major recruiting media outlets. Tee Martin was Fields primary recruiter for USC.
