Plattenburg will visit USC on Jan. 17.
Another big flip has been made but this time the cross town battle for Los Angeles takes part in the action.
4-star defensive back John Plattenburg Jr. committed to UCLA on Nov. 19 after heavily considering Washington. Position coach Keith Heyward left Washington for USC and immediately made the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder a priority.
Monday morning Plattenburg announced he had flipped from UCLA to USC.
"I like the coaching staff and the school was always cool," Plattenburg told 247Sports. "I think USC is a good fit academically and I always just wanted to be there. I had a great relationship with coach Heyward and once he got to USC that really made it seem like the best place for me."
Plattenburg will take his official visit to USC on Jan. 17. He has one open visit left he can take and left the door open for that to happen.
UCLA recruited Plattenburg for a long time and despite his change of heart, he had nothing but respect for the Bruin staff.
"I have the utmost respect for Jim Mora and Demetrice Martin and those guys at UCLA. They did a lot of great things for me and helped me with my confidence. It was nothing against them but USC is just where my heart was at."
