Brandon Dawkins (Oaks Christian HS Thousand Oaks, CA... 6’3”, 206), one of the top quarterbacks in southern California decided to make a verbal commitment to Notre Dame Saturday night.
“I decided that if the offer is still there, I’m going to commit (to Notre Dame),” Dawkins said. “They offered a few months ago, which was a while, so I haven’t really talked to them much, but I just want to talk to the coach, make sure everything’s still there, and hopefully commit.”
Dawkins was always impressed by the football program, but his visit to campus sold him.
“It’s a big program that was my first offer. It’s a pretty big deal. I’ve always been interested in the program and I’m just ready to commit. When I took the trip down there, it pretty much sealed the deal. I fell in love right away with the campus right away, it’s an awesome campus. The whole staff is great and I’m just ready to do it.”
Dawkins attended the same high school as former Irish star Jimmy Clausen. As a sophomore, he broke Clausen’s single game passing record against Simi Valley Royal. He was a first team all state selection that same year.
Dawkins also had offers from NC State and Utah.
